1 – What is WBS Cost-Sharing?

WBS cost-sharing is a way for those who participate in and those who believe in the ministry opportunities of using WBS courses to teach the Gospel online, to be involved in sharing with the associated costs.  Helping in this way is tax deductible.

Since its launch in the early 90’s, the WBS Internet ministry has been a leading evangelistic online mission. With the significant cost involved in developing and operating secure, high quality services, WBS has been richly blessed by the donations from individual Christians and churches who have helped sustain the Internet ministry for over decade and a half.

Internet Teachers, like their Postal Teacher counterparts, help share the cost of the ministry so the millions of students can study the Bible for free. WBS will continue to rely on the generosity of churches and like-minded Christians to cover the majority of the expenses of sharing the Gospel via the Internet, while those who participate in the Internet ministry help share the cost a $10.00 per month subscription.

Why is WBS asking Email Teachers (and future Web Teachers) to share the cost of teaching?

WBS Postal Teachers and their churches have always paid for the printed WBS lessons so students would could receive Bible courses for FREE. In recent years, the Postal Teachers and their supporting churches have helped to fund approximately one-quarter of the worldwide WBS ministry. Shared Costs for Email Teachers is an opportunity for all WBS teachers to equitably participate in cost-effective evangelism through WBS.  The same will be true for Web Teachers, when that option is available near the end of 2009.

Other reasons for sharing ministry costs among Postal and Email Teachers include:

• paying for direct costs of student recruiting (e.g. Google advertising) and using technology to teach more effectively (e.g new teacher and online community tools);
• increasing WBS’ overall resources for teaching more students;
• recruiting committed Email and Web Course study helpers.

What will be the shared cost for being an Email Teacher?

Email Teachers will be asked to participate in cost-sharing with Postal Teachers with $10 a month.

When will I begin to share the cost of teaching?

Cost sharing will begin September 1, 2009.

At that time, you will login to your existing myWBS account and find instructions on how to set up your myWBS account for paying your monthly shared costs.

What methods of payment can I use to pay for my shared cost for teaching?

WBS will accept credit cards, debit cards in the MasterCard and Visa systems, and PayPal.

Checks will be accepted if you pay quarterly, semi-annually, or annually.

If I pay monthly, when will I be charged each month?

Your credit card will be charged on the anniversary day of your initial cost-sharing payment.  For example, if you begin payments on September 1st, your card will be charged on the 1st of the following months.

Can my church pay for our Email Teachers?

Yes. There will be an option for your church to pay the cost-sharing for all or selected Email Teachers.

Can I pay my shared cost annually?

Yes, you may pay once a year.

Is there a discount for paying annually?

Yes. You will receive a discount of $20 if you pay annually.  The annual cost-sharing subscription will be $100.

Will my account be automatically renewed for next year?

No. You will be notified to process your annual subscription for the following year.

Can I pay for someone else’s cost-sharing subscription?

Yes. You will find instructions on the subscription form after September 1st.

What is the Teacher Scholarship Fund?

WBS’ goal is to provide every opportunity for a willing teacher to share the Gospel with seekers through WBS. The Teacher Scholarship Fund is a fund that can be used to help teachers who do not have the ability to pay for their own shared cost subscription for teaching. Examples might be individuals on a limited, fixed income; those whose churches are unable to participate; or economically disadvantaged teachers abroad.

Is my shared cost for teaching tax deductible?

Yes. You will receive a receipt each month via the email address WBS has on file for your account.

Is my payment secure?

Yes. WBS uses the largest on-line secure processor and has taken all necessary steps to provide a secure online payment environment.

Will WBS send me a reminder to pay monthly?

No. WBS will automatically charge your credit card each month and send you a receipt for your records.
