Can a teacher get the names of WBS students in a local community?
The WBS Internet department has always tried to assign students to teachers based on their preferred target areas when possible. Some teachers chose to target the local community and some teachers target areas across the sea.
WBS will be offering the church Affiliate Program later in the year to churches who want to advertise WBS in a specific area of the world – local or remote. The Affiliate Program will offer a variety of advertising and promotional helps to assist evangelistic churches to reach out.
How can I use myWBS 2.0 with my jail/prison work?
Many teachers who work with jail and prison ministries like to have a positive impact on the friends and families of the inmates. One good way to do this is by suggesting the inmate invite others to take the WBS courses.
If you are using the Postal courses in your ministry, simply write the web address in the WBS course booklet on the page where a student may write referrals.
The family member or friend may chose to enroll using the method that best suits his or her need – postal, email or web.
Note: When you are a member of the new myWBS 2.0, you will be given an special code you can include with the web address for these and other referral students. When your students share WBS with their peers, the new referral students can be assigned back to you for teaching.
Is there a mobile version of myWBS 2.0?
The Internet staff already uses several mobile applications to keep track of myWBS 2.0. Through text messaging, mobile web browsers, and rss readers, myWBS 2.0 is on the go.
1 – Students – WBS web students already have access to myWBS through many mobile devices and service plans. myWBS 2.0 web courses are viewable and have been tested with the iPhone.
2 – Follow Up – One of the priorities of WBS technology developments for 2009 is to provide immediate communication of baptism requests to follow up workers in the field. Our goal is to have mobile SMS text messaging for the WBS service centers by the 3rd quarter of 2009.
3 – Teachers – In the 4th quarter of 2009, WBS will offer teachers using myWBS 2.0 the option of receiving notifications via text message. A teacher may choose to be sent a text message when one of his students requests baptism, or completes a course that is ready for a communication response, or when the student logs into myWBS.
When will the church Affiliate Program be released?
The Affiliate Program will be released in the 3rd quarter of 2009.
What is the WBS “Church Affiliate Program”?
The Affiliate Program is a web portal application which will provide churches advertising tools for student recruiting in a targeted area of the world.
May I be a live chat study helper with WBS?
Live chat will be a feature offered to all WBS study helpers, postal, email, and web. It is not a stand-alone teaching style.
Live chat will be available to teachers who would like to communicate with their students who are logged in to myWBS.
When as student is logged in, some teachers may want to send a quick, “Hi. I saw you logged in. Do you have any questions?” Others may want to schedule an appointment with their students to login and discuss a topic from one of the courses.
May I teach in two ways – like email and web courses?
Yes. The systems for the email and web teaching will be closely related and you may teach more than one type of student. As a WBS study helper, you may choose to teach only one type of student or you may have any combination of students from postal, email and/or web students.
Note: We do not recommend that your students bounce back and forth between two methods by taking some lessons by email and others completed by web, or some by postal and some by email. The myWBS grading and student tracking system will not allow this.
How do I get started as a web teacher?
The process to become a WBS web teacher will be similar to the process for becoming an email teacher. You will:
- – Fill out a form on the website and your account will be activated
- Read the “Getting Started” information
- Set up your schedule “rotation” to get new students
The release date for becoming a web teacher will be early third quarter of ‘09.
