Now What? Just Let Me Know What To Do

The day after the February newsletter was sent, my inbox was filled with responses – all of them upbeat and encouraging. One old dog.I opened Bill Martin’s message, “This sounds exciting! Even to an ‘old dog’ like me. I’m ready…” Mary McKinney put it this way, “I’ll do whatever it takes to win souls. I will do like Paul and be all things to all people that I may win some!!” Pat Stamps responded with, “This sounds so good. Just let me know what I need to do. I am excited and ready to go.”

What do you need to do?

Before I answer the question from one “old dog” to another, I would like to reassert the point that the new myWBS will be a seamless application for all WBS users. Postal, email and web – teachers, students, follow up workers and churches. So, if you are reading this message, myWBS 2.0 is for you and your students.

For Postal Teachers who are myWBS 1.0 users. Your students’ records will be migrated into the new system for you. We are currently building your Postal Teacher & student pages. When the pages are completed, we will notify you that your students are being moved into the new system. At that time we will also give you instructions for how to login to the new system as a teacher.

For Email Teachers. The email teacher & students will be released following the Postal system in myWBS 2.0. Your system is a more complex with all of the auto-generated emails associated with your processes. You too will be notified when your system is ready and your students will be moved into the new system for you. We’ll give you step-by-step instructions so the migration will be easy.

For Follow-Up Workers and affiliated churches. The two systems – the one for follow up workers, and the one for WBS affiliated churches is scheduled for release in 2010.

So, what do you need to do right now?
1 – Watch for the notification with instructions about your system and your students.
2 – Keep giving us feedback and asking questions. Your opinions not only influence our path, they also encourage us! Lance and I have set up a couple of blogs to make it even easier for you to communicate with us.
3 – Read Lance’s technology blog and post your technical questions to him.
For now, that’s it!

~ Kit

Want to make a comment on a blog post or ask a question? Look for a link about “Comments” and click it. Even if it says “No Comments” you can click on that link and be the first.
    Thanks ~ Kit

Looks like you are going to do similar to what I’ve been doing. For each student, I set up a 6-column chart:
Lesson Name – Sent – Received – Discussion Answers – Grade – My Comments.

This way, whenever anyone writes me, I can go to their chart, tell what they’ve said before and be able to pick up on what they told me in the past. Sometimes it is a change of beliefs, working through a personal problem, etc. They think I have a wonderful memory. I don’t. I have a wonderful chart.

I suppose I will still keep the chart for personal things they write me and questions they have on other Bible issues.

I do hope that signing in will not be a deterrent to students who want to send the lesson the easiest way possible. As you know, some sign up for WBS, then never “have time” to do the lessons.

Hi! I am a member of the church located in Clinton, MS (temporarily a student at Mississippi State University). I’m excited about all the new technology WBS is embracing!

I’m wondering if there is any room for a volunteer in the technology area. I enjoy working on front-end stuff like HTML, and CSS. I also enjoy working with WordPress. I’ve installed it many times and have designed custom themes. So if there’s any possible way I can help in this area, please contact me.

I’m very excited this sounds great. I know we will reach more with this change. Just tell, explain, to me how to make it work. I know I can learn. I’m not real computer savey but I am detemined to gain the information and skills that I need to reach the lost.

I couldn’t comment on Lance’s blog because it is set to only let registered users comment. And it looks like registration is disabled.

This sounds so good. Thank you. Keeping up with technology is important and I am thankful for this wonderful tool in helping reach the world. Can you include a category for students who have been baptized but not yet graduated?

Katheryn – great feedback about the chart. We will try to include something similar in the new myWBS.

Blake – thanks for volunteering to help. I believe Lance has sent you an email to explore the idea.

Sherry – How will this work? We will have a step-by-step tutorial for you to understand how it all works. It’s important to know that we are not asking teachers to change from teaching email or postal. If you love what you are doing, WBS loves what you are doing. We believe this is just one more option for teachers and students to choose from. The goal is to communicate the Gospel in every way!

Ellen – Thanks for the suggestion to include a category for students who have been baptized but not graduated. Sorry we overlooked that option in myWBS 1.0!

You guys are awesome and mean a lot to me. ~Kit
